This program is sponsored by Michael Stamos, MD, dean of the UCI School of Medicine. It is designed to increase camaraderie and wellbeing among physicians in the medical school through various events and workshops.

The Interactive Screening Program through the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is sent to all physicians in the School of Medicine yearly. This screens for depression and suicide and offers to connect participants anonymously for support.

Dr. Stamos has given funding for each faculty member to get three confidential coaching sessions from a certified physician coach.  Faculty can discuss any area they choose from how to advance their career, how to address burnout, how to improve relationships within their team and various other topics.   Reach out directly to the coach, as we want this to be confidential.  See flyer below.

Faculty Peer Support Program

The School of Medicine Faculty Peer Support Program tries to proactively provide confidential support and resources when a peer has experienced an acute occupational event that has been stressful, such as an adverse event or a malpractice lawsuit.  The peer support program offers a casual offer of support whether through a phone call or a meeting to our valued colleagues.  Faculty, representing all professorial levels and multiple disciplines have received formal training on how to offer peer support.  The peer support program is co-chaired by Dr. Anju Hurria and Dr. Jefferson Chen.  Peer support leaders will carefully match faculty, taking into account specialty and career position,  along with the understanding that sometimes you want to talk to someone in a related specialty, but not in the same department.
