One in three adults in the U.S. will have a substance use disorder and one in five will have another behavioral health condition. Depression is among the most common causes of disability worldwide and often co-occurring with longstanding pain conditions.

This talk covers the importance of teaching integrative medicine and psychiatry to those on the “medical frontlines”, generally Primary Care Clinicians. Research showing this type of training and mentorship can increase recognition of depression and decrease use of opioids for the treatment of chronic pain.
