The Integrative Breast Wellness Program is a collaborative initiative between Susan Samueli Integrative Health Institute and Pacific Breast Care Center at UCI Health.
Our comprehensive, whole-person approach to breast health considers a number of important factors including diet, lifestyle, environmental exposures, stress, and hormones. If you have any breast symptoms such as breast pain or inflammation (chronic or cyclical), have dense and/or fibrocystic breasts, or if you are at increased risk of breast disease including cancer, this program is for you.
Conditions Treated
- Any individual with breast pain, dense breast tissue, cysts, history of breast surgery without history of or active breast cancer
- Any individual with symptoms of hormone imbalance including breast tenderness, menstrual irregularities, cyclical symptoms including sleep difficulty, irritability, and/or water retention
- Any individuals with increased risk of breast disease due to personal or family history
Services
The Integrative Breast Wellness Program takes a more comprehensive look at risk factors and provides expanded options for disease prevention and treatment. Some areas that are more closely evaluated include:
- Dietary and lifestyle factors and influences
- Environmental exposures
- Hormones including estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, and/or thyroid
- Nutrient status and micronutrient deficiencies
- Factors that influence genetic predisposition
- Immune system function including inflammation
- Stress and the stress response
