February is Heart Month, and it’s a crucial reminder that integrative medicine can significantly help reduce the risk of death for heart patients. Efrain Cerrato, lead exercise physiologist at SSIHI, discusses the whole-person approach he takes with patients in the SSIHI Cardiac Rehabilitation program. This is an all-encompassing, whole-person care program that integrates education and supervised exercise within a collaborative team framework, tailoring care to patients’ unique needs within a supportive group environment. This integrative approach fosters a cohesive atmosphere aimed at enhancing health and recovery after a heart event, such as a heart attack or surgery. In conversation with Dr. Ryan Herring, MD, MPH, Concierge Staff Physician, with a focus on lifestyle and preventive medicine.
